Seven-Year Cycles of Human Life

0–7

Building the foundation

A period of physical growth and development. The structure of the future personality and the first instinct for self-preservation take shape.

Love, a sense of safety and an environment without aggression are vital: this is when fears and deep insecurities should not be planted.

7–14

Connection and learning

Communication, language and learning skills develop. The child learns to live among others, negotiate and sense the boundary between what belongs to the self and what belongs to someone else.

Key guides at this age are empathy, kindness and willpower; it is important not to reinforce lying, manipulation or taking what belongs to others.

14–21

Independence and rules

Sexual maturity develops, while an idealised image of parents gradually becomes more realistic. Questions of law, rules and social relationships become especially important.

A respected guide can teach self-discipline and respect for boundaries. It is worth noticing restlessness, scattered effort and the temptation to obtain everything too easily.

21–28

Inner life and vocation

The task of this period is to refine the inner world. A person searches for meaning by creating a family, establishing a profession or trying a new direction.

Around age 23 an important turn may occur; by 28, creative self-realisation and a clearer sense of one’s place can emerge.

28–35

Your own path

Physical ability and creative potential flourish. A person gains the opportunity to choose an individual road rather than repeat inherited family patterns.

Energy use needs attention: gambling, reckless adventures and hidden vices can divert strength from what genuinely builds the future.

35–42

Authority and responsibility

A person seeks influence, social standing and authority. Material ambition may reach a peak, while professionalism and responsibility become especially important.

The risks are pettiness, excessive guilt or hiding behind someone else. Around age 42, the need to change one’s way of acting and defend an individual path may mature.

42–49

Reconsidering relationships

The need for active struggle may lessen, while stable social bonds, feelings and honest conversation become more valuable.

This period invites a review of relationships and a search for spiritual closeness. Around ages 46–47, a change of role, an important life turn or a new professional identity may appear.

49–56

Mastery

Experience becomes a system. Quality, sharing knowledge and mature management of time and resources become increasingly important.

56–63

Transformation and wisdom

A zone of transformation: interest may move toward spirituality, home life or knowledge acquired in youth and now understood anew.

The urge to lecture or complain may appear. The task is to turn accumulated experience into wisdom rather than withdrawal.

63+

Passing it on

A time to integrate experience, share what works and create an individual pace of life without needing to prove anything to anyone.
